About Us

Since it was founded in 1900, McKinley Children’s Center has provided services to children who are survivors of abusive environments; often related to drug and/or alcohol abuse, abandonment, physical and psychological difficulties. Many children arrive at McKinley depressed, sad, angry, and dealing with incredible traumas. At the Center, they face the opportunity to grow and learn in a safe and stable environment.

As it was in 1900, and following in the footsteps of its founders, McKinley’s mission and deep commitment remains to improve the quality and lives of our children. McKinley was founded and continues to operate as a true outreach to the community. With no attachment to any specific organization, but with widespread ties to hundreds of individuals, families, and neighborhood groups, McKinley serves as a pivotal point when the care and concern of the community-at-large turns into direct action and aid for some of its most vulnerable children.

The Center has provided over a century of service to more than 60,000 boys and girls. We are proud of our programs and the results we have achieved and we remain committed to assisting today’s youth in thriving in their lives and communities.
