Love La Verne Day
The La Verne Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce the inaugural of Love La Verne Day! A day dedicated to giving back to the community and showcasing our love for La Verne. This year's event will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024, and will feature a variety of volunteer projects and activities for individuals, families, and groups to participate in.

The La Verne Chamber is proud to add our name to the growing list of participants in the Love Our Cities Movement. Love our Cities began out of the success of Love Modesto. Love Modesto started in 2007 at Big Valley Grace Community Church in Modesto, California with two questions:

Why is our city on lists of the “worst cities in America”?
If our church were to suddenly disappear from the Modesto area, would anyone even care or notice?

With a lot of dreaming and planning came the first Love Modesto Day on March 7, 2009. Hoping for 100 people, more than 1,200 people showed up to love the city. Since then Love Our Cities has helped more than 100 cities do the same. Over 272,000 volunteers have been involved. Over 1.2 million volunteer hours have been donated – this is over $39 million dollars in service (independentsector.org) that has been given to our communities!

At these community-wide volunteer days, people engage in a variety of projects, including appreciating public servants, visiting convalescent homes, donating blood, building a house with Habitat for Humanity, and working in city parks and schools, among other opportunities.

So many amazing stories have emerged from Love Our Cities, but perhaps the greatest stories are of the thousands who continue to volunteer regularly with organizations and areas they served. This is the hope …renewed pride in our cities, ongoing volunteerism and communities transformed.

Love La Verne Day aims to unite our community through service, with volunteer projects including community clean-up and beautification, assisting with food drives and donations for local shelters, creating care packages for elderly residents, projects at the Bonita Unified School District, and assisting at an animal shelter. Individuals, families, and groups are encouraged to register to volunteer. Your contribution makes a huge impact for the community and helps create a stronger, more united La Verne.

Non-profit organizations are also invited to contribute online and submit volunteer projects that align with our mission to inspire our community to love each other through connecting, participating, giving, and serving. In your volunteer project proposal, include details such as project description, expected outcomes, volunteer requirements, family-friendly activities, and any necessary resources. This is an opportunity for organizations to showcase their work and connect with volunteers and potential sponsors. We encourage all non-profits to get involved and help make this day a success.
